I finally read a game theory textbook. Von Neumann and Morgenstern's "Theory of Games and Economic Behavior" basically started the field of game theory. I'll summarize the main ideas and my opinions. This was also the book that introduced the VNM theorem about decision-theoretic utility. They presented it as an improvement on "indifference curves", which apparently was how economists . Second, the book--recognizing that students learn by doing and that most game theory texts are weak on problems--is organized around problems, and introduces principles through practice. Finally, the quality of the problems is simply unsurpassed, and each chapter provides a study plan for instructors interested in teaching evolutionary game theory. 53 minutes ago  Doctor Who is setting the TARDIS' destination for consoles and PCs. About this book. Search Theory is one of the original disciplines within the field of Operations Research. It deals with the problem faced by a Searcher who wishes to minimize the time required to find a hidden object, or “target.

” The Searcher chooses a path in the “search space” and finds the target when he is sufficiently close to it. This item: The Theory of Search Games and Rendezvous (International Series in Operations Research & Management Science) Set up a giveaway.

The book is suitable for both self-study and an undergraduate or first-year graduate-level course in game theory. It is written to be accessible to anybody with high-school level knowledge of mathematics.

At the end of each chapter there is a collection of exercises accompanied by detailed answers. There is a total of more than exercises.

The book is self-contained and written very rigorously, but on the other hand, it is also very friendly to the reader, containing a lot of explanations and interpretations of game theory notions, as well as very many examples describing and analyzing various economic and other models with an application to game theory.
